You can say this young game have proved its potential during this whole year.
Overwatch had a great year with a lot of daily players and free updates. As the games is reaching the end of its first year, that will be on May 24, Overwatch has a lot to show off:
5 global events (Summer Games 2016, Junkenstein’s Revenge, Winter Wonderland, Year of the Rooster and Upsrising);
3 new heroes (Ana, Sombra and Orisa);
3 new maps (Eichenwalde, Antartica and Oasis);
A ton of detailed videos and animated shorts;
The implementation of Arcade modes and Custom Games.
Also, Overwatch League was created to be a global world-class e-Sports league, with the objective of having a team to represent each city. The plan is to involve the players in a more friendly and stable competition.
Overwatch World Cup 2016 was disputed by teams from different countries, formed by the top players voted by the community, and is returning this year as Overwatch World Cup 2017.
There will be probably something to gain during the celebration for the first Overwatch Anniversary that will be during May 23 to June 12.
You can watch a video by Blizzard demonstrating all this below.
